The Importance of Pose

February 9, 2020

The DIFFERENCE between un-posed and posed pictures....

Many times people tell me that they don't want to look posed in a their pictures. I'm not sure why that is? That is one of the most important reasons to hire a photographer who knows how to make YOU look YOUR best!

For instance in the first photo below this is an example of an un-posed picture. It is shot straight on to the camera, her arms are straight down to her sides and there is no "shape" to her body. Even though Cassidy is very thin and beautiful this is not a very flattering photo of her. In fact it actually makes her look wider then she is because her arms become the width of her body.

I have never had a client ask me to make them look wider then they are, ever! They always want to look thinner and more beautiful! A good photographer knows how to use pose and camera angles so that their clients look their absolute best at any size!

If you notice in the posed picture below I had her turn her body more to the side, bring her should forward, chin to her shoulder, arms low, but across her body, her knee is bent in and a slight arch in her back gives her a little more shape to her body it adds the lovely "S" curve or hour glass that every woman wants. This pose makes her look thinner and her face more defined.

My Purpose is to make you look your best always!

Thank you so much Cassidy for allowing me to use this in my post to show the difference between un-posed and posed pictures.

Senior Session - Kate Stadeli - Class of 2021 Prairie Central High School

January 18, 2021

We did 2 separate sessions with Kate, as we wanted to take advantage of the ice storm we had a couple weeks ago and get some shots with her horses.

Then we did a session last Sunday in the studio with professional hair and makeup by Maggie from Everything beauty with Maggie using Seint Beauty.

Maggie did an awesome job assisting me during Kate's session, helping to blow air in Kate's hair using a hair dryer and making hair adjustments during the shoot, she even gave me suggestions for for poses.

Before & After Edits - Ethan + Olivia

December 23, 2020

The image on the left is a raw image straight out of camera

The image on the right is post processing after edits.

For this image I wanted to create a romantic moody feel, so I darkened the image up first, added a velvety tone, warmed their skin tones up and added a glow of light from the lantern.
